Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(26-28) And out of the basket.-The description in these three verses of the rites performed at the sacrifice of consecration is exactly in accordance with the orders given in Exodus 29:23-25. The right shoulder, and one cake of each of the three unleavened kinds, which formed the officiating priests' share of the sacrifices (see Leviticus 7:12; Leviticus 7:32), and which were ordinarily eaten by them and their families, Moses on this occasion burned upon the altar, after being placed in the hands of Aaron and his sons, and waved before the Lord.Parallel Commentaries ...HebrewAnd from the basketוּמִסַּ֨ל (ū·mis·sal)Conjunctive waw, Preposition-m | Noun - masculine singular constructStrong's 5536: A willow twig, an osier, as woven into a, basketof unleavened breadהַמַּצּ֜וֹת (ham·maṣ·ṣō·wṯ)Article | Noun - feminine pluralStrong's 4682: Sweetness, sweet, an unfermented cake, loaf, the festival of Passoverthatאֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀ (’ă·šer)Pronoun - relativeStrong's 834: Who, which, what, that, when, where, how, because, in order thatwas beforeלִפְנֵ֣י (lip̄·nê)Preposition-l | Noun - common plural constructStrong's 6440: The facethe LORD,יְהוָ֗ה (Yah·weh)Noun - proper - masculine singularStrong's 3068: LORD -- the proper name of the God of Israelhe tookלָ֠קַח (lā·qaḥ)Verb - Qal - Perfect - third person masculine singularStrong's 3947: To takeoneאַחַת֙ (’a·ḥaṯ)Number - feminine singular constructStrong's 259: United, one, firstcakeחַלַּ֨ת (ḥal·laṯ)Noun - feminine singular constructStrong's 2471: A cake (a type used in offerings)of unleavened bread,מַצָּ֤ה (maṣ·ṣāh)Noun - feminine singularStrong's 4682: Sweetness, sweet, an unfermented cake, loaf, the festival of Passoveroneאַחַ֖ת (’a·ḥaṯ)Number - feminine singular constructStrong's 259: United, one, firstcakeוְֽחַלַּ֨ת (wə·ḥal·laṯ)Conjunctive waw | Noun - feminine singular constructStrong's 2471: A cake (a type used in offerings)of breadלֶ֥חֶם (le·ḥem)Noun - masculine singular constructStrong's 3899: Food, bread, grainmade with oil,שֶׁ֛מֶן (še·men)Noun - masculine singularStrong's 8081: Grease, liquid, richnessand oneאֶחָ֑ד (’e·ḥāḏ)Number - masculine singularStrong's 259: United, one, firstwafer,וְרָקִ֣יק (wə·rā·qîq)Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 7550: Thin cake, waferand he placedוַיָּ֙שֶׂם֙ (way·yā·śem)Conjunctive waw | Verb - Qal - Consecutive imperfect - third person masculine singularStrong's 7760: Put -- to put, place, setthem onעַל־ (‘al-)PrepositionStrong's 5921: Above, over, upon, againstthe fat portionsהַ֣חֲלָבִ֔ים (ha·ḥă·lā·ḇîm)Article | Noun - masculine pluralStrong's 2459: Fat, richest, choice partand onוְעַ֖ל (wə·‘al)Conjunctive waw | PrepositionStrong's 5921: Above, over, upon, againstthe rightהַיָּמִֽין׃ (hay·yā·mîn)Article | Noun - feminine singularStrong's 3225: The right hand, side, the souththigh.שׁ֥וֹק (šō·wq)Noun - feminine singular constructStrong's 7785: The, legJump to PreviousBasket Bread Cake Fat Leg Mixed Oil Oiled Placed Portions Right Shoulder Thigh Thin Unleavened Wafer Yeast
