David Phelps

David Norris Phelps was born on October 21, 1969, in Texas. He is a singer, songwriter, and keyboardist known for his work in the Christian music sphere. A lyric tenor noted for a vocal range exceeding three octaves, Phelps earned a music degree in vocal performance from Baylor University in 1992. He is best known for his tenure as a tenor singer in the Gaither Vocal Band, serving with the group from 1998 to 2005 and again from 2009 to 2017. Alongside his work with the ensemble, Phelps built a significant solo career. He self-released his first solo album, *Journey to Grace*, in 1994. Phelps’ solo albums have charted on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. His album *Freedom* reached the Top Ten on that chart, while *Classic* reached the Top Ten on both Christian and classical album charts. Multiple of his albums have reached the Top 15 of the Billboard Christian Albums chart. His catalog includes albums such as *Revelation*, *Life Is a Church*, *End of the Beginning*, *The Voice*, and *Legacy of Love*, as well as live recordings like *No More Night*.
