Deborah Joy Winans is an American actress and singer born in Detroit, Michigan, and a member of the renowned Winans gospel music family. She is the daughter of Carvin Winans, a founding member of the gospel group The Winans, and the niece of gospel artists BeBe and CeCe Winans. She describes herself as a nondenominational Christian. Winans earned a BFA from Wayne State University and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. She is best known for her role as Charity Greenleaf-Satterlee on the television drama series *Greenleaf*. Her character served as the Minister of Music, allowing her to showcase her vocal talents on the series' soundtracks. Her catalog of recorded songs includes "The Master's Calling," "Changed" featuring Patti LaBelle, "(God Bless the) Broken Road," "Take Me To the Water," "River," "When I Rose," "Never On My Own," and "Let Love Find A Way."
