About Kambua
Kambua M. Mathu, known professionally as Kambua, is a Kenyan gospel singer, songwriter, and television host. Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, she grew up in a Christian household and was active in church choirs and Christian Union activities from a young age. Her musical foundation was further strengthened by formal education; she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Ambrose University in Canada and completed a summer performance program at the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2007.
Kambua’s music is known for its fusion of gospel and African styles. Her catalog includes songs such as “Nishikilie,” “Anatimiza,” “Usiku Na Mchana,” “Bado Nasimama,” “Neema,” “Shukrani,” and “Ametenda Zaidi.” She also released an album titled *Nyumbani*. Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Kisima Female Artist of the Year in 2008 and the Groove Awards Songwriter of the Year in 2012.
Beyond her music career, Kambua has been a prominent media personality in Kenya. She served as a television host for gospel programs including *Rauka* and *Kubamba* on Citizen TV. She has also worked as an actress and a voice-over artist for various commercial brands. Kambua is married to Pastor Jackson Mathu.
