Mali Music

Mali Music is the stage name of American singer-songwriter and producer Kortney Jamaal Pollard. Born on January 12, 1988, in Phoenix, Arizona, and raised in Savannah, Georgia, he began playing piano at age five and was active in his church’s music ministry by age eleven. He later served as a Minister of Music at Faith on the Move Ministries. His early independent albums include *The Coming* (2008) and *The 2econd Coming* (2009). In 2011, he became the first inspirational artist featured in BET’s “Music Matters” series. His major-label debut album, *Mali Is...* (2014), received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album. He has released multiple studio albums, including *The Book of Mali* (2020) and *God Be Praised* (2023). Mali Music also played the role of Jesus in the 2018 film *Revival!*. Mali Music won the Grammy Award for Best Gospel Performance/Song at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards for “Movin’ On” with Jonathan McReynolds. He was also nominated for Best Gospel Album at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards for the EP *Jonny x Mali: Live in LA*. His catalog includes songs such as “Beautiful,” “Lord Forgive Me,” “I Believe,” and “Loved By You” featuring Jazmine Sullivan.
