[Marvin Sapp:] Hey TJ, how you doing today?
[TJ:] I'm good thank you for joining us today. Happy New Year.
[Marvin Sapp:] Same to you, happy New Year to you as well.
[TJ:] And I understand you have a birthday coming up.
[Marvin Sapp:] Yes, I actually do have a birthday coming up. And I'm gon' be... [sigh] I'ma keep that to myself.
[TJ:] Oh.
[Marvin Sapp:] Yeah.
[TJ:] But you getting older.
[Marvin Sapp:] Yeah, I'm trying to. That's the goal: get older.
[TJ:] What you say, stronger, wiser...?
[Marvin Sapp:] And better.
[TJ:] So much better. So much better.
[Marvin Sapp:] So much better.
[TJ:] So much? so many things going on this year, and I know you have some great things that you're working on, some great projects that you're working on, but I have a? I have a question for you. I've always wanted to know this, because when I listen to your voice, I'm thinking, "Hm, I wonder what he would sound like if he ever sang a R&B song." Now, I know you a bishop and you a big-time gospel singer, but have you ever thought about singing R&B?
[Marvin Sapp:] You know what, I've never thought about singing R&B music, and let me tell you why. Because I was ten years old, it was a Sunday morning, and we were getting ready for church. And I said that day that I wanted to sing gospel music. And from that day to this day, that's all I've ever done. I can literally count the number of times that I've had the opportunity to sing R&B music, because I really feel like that this is my assignment.
[TJ:] Now let me go back to your biopic real quick, 'cause in the lunch room, you were singing R&B in the lunch room at school, wasn't you?
[Marvin Sapp:] Yeah, I had somebody to sing to back then, yeah, yeah, I sang? I sang R&B back then, a little bit, yeah.
[TJ:] So speaking of that, with that in mind, I wonder, that was back in the day, but now we're here in a new year. I wonder what it would sound like, a R&B song, or a whole R&B project, by Marvin Sapp.
[Marvin Sapp:] Well, you know what? If I was an R&B singer, it would probably sound a little bit something like this:
