About Amani (Cecilia Wairimu)
Cecilia Wairimu (born November 28, 1980), known professionally as Amani, is a Kenyan singer and songwriter. She began her professional music career in 2000, initially signed to the record label Ogopa Deejays, and went on to win Best Female Artist at the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA). She also holds an International Business Administration degree from the United States International University (USIU) in Kenya.
In 2018, Amani publicly announced that she had become a born-again Christian and transitioned from secular music to gospel music. She has stated that her decision to switch to gospel music was motivated by a desire for a deeper connection with God. Following this change, her catalog has included gospel songs such as "Jina Lake Yesu," "My God," "Upendo," and "Unanitosha."
Amani married Chinasa Udeala in 2017.
