James Fortune

James Fortune is an urban contemporary gospel singer, songwriter, record producer, and radio host. Born on November 29, 1978, in Richmond, Texas, he began his career in music ministry as a drummer at his father’s church. He later served as the choir director at Dimension Church in Houston, Texas, and is widely recognized for his work with his featured choir, FIYA. Fortune debuted in 2004 with the single "You Survived," which earned him an ASCAP Award for Gospel Song of the Year. His music is characterized by themes of transparency, faith, healing, and overcoming personal struggles. He has released multiple albums, including *The Transformation* (2007), *Encore* (2010), and *Identity* (2012). The album *Identity* earned Grammy nominations for Best Gospel Album and Best Gospel Song for the track "Hold On." Fortune’s catalog also includes songs such as "I Trust You," "Life and Favor," "Let Your Power Fall," "I Believe," "Impossible," and "It's Gonna Happen." The single "I Trust You" achieved a 29-week run at No. 1 on the Gospel charts. He is a 15-time Billboard Gospel Airplay No. 1 artist.
