Josh Garrels

Josh Garrels (born September 25, 1980) is an American singer-songwriter, producer, and composer from South Bend, Indiana. He is a co-founder of the independent label Small Voice Records. Garrels emerged in the early 2000s, initially playing in punk bands before transitioning to a folk-based sound with hip-hop influences. He came into the Christian faith in his early twenties, which became a central theme in his musical journey. His 2011 double album, *Love & War & the Sea in Between*, is often cited as a career milestone and was recognized by Christian media outlets. The album was named *Christianity Today's* Album of the Year and was later named The Gospel Coalition's Album of the Decade. In 2015, his album *Home* reached the Billboard 200 chart, also reaching number 19 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart. Garrels has maintained a career that bridges the gap between the Christian music community and broader audiences, often shying away from strict industry labels. He has collaborated with the Mason Jar Music collective and The Porter's Gate, a project focused on worship music regarding faith and vocation. His catalog includes the albums *Stonetree* (2002), *Jacaranda* (2008), *The Light Came Down* (2016), *Chrysaline* (2019), *Peace To All Who Enter Here* (2020), and *Seek Hi Seek Lo* (2024).
