Christ Has No Body Now But Yours

The Porter's Gate and Josh Garrels sing the same six lines three times through, with no verses added and nothing new introduced on each repeat: "Christ has no body now but yours, no hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes with which He sees, yours are the feet with which He walks, yours are the hands with which He blesses all the world."

The words themselves are centuries old, drawn from a prayer long attributed to Teresa of Ávila, and the song doesn't try to modernize or expand them — it just repeats them until the claim settles in. 1 Corinthians 12:27 tells believers directly, "you are the body of Christ and individually members of it," the same logic behind giving Christ hands and feet that belong, quite literally, to someone else now.

What the repetition does that a single reading couldn't is turn a theological statement into something closer to a commissioning. Ephesians 2:10 describes believers as "created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them" — not decoration on top of faith, but the actual shape it's meant to take. Three repeats in, the song isn't describing a metaphor anymore. It's naming an assignment.
