Ricky Dillard

Ricky Rydell Dillard was born on February 25, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois, and is a gospel songwriter, singer, and choir director. He began his music career in 1987, initially working in Chicago house music before transitioning to the gospel music scene. In 1988, he founded the New Generation Chorale, commonly known as New G, and is frequently referred to as "The Choirmaster" for his work with gospel choirs. Dillard has released numerous albums that have appeared on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart, including titles such as *The Promise*, *A Holy Ghost Take-Over*, and *Choirmaster*. His catalog includes songs like "Consider It Done," "Hand of The Lord," "Glad To Be In The Service," "Release," and "Never Failed Me Yet." He has received multiple Grammy Award nominations for his work in gospel music. His contributions to the genre have been recognized with several honors. At the 36th Annual Stellar Awards, he won Traditional Choir of the Year, and at the 37th Annual Stellar Awards, he was honored with the James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award. Dillard has also been featured in publications such as *TIME* and *Rolling Stone* regarding his influence on gospel choir music.
