My All God is

Ricky Dillard's “My All God Is” is a short song of devotion. It opens with a statement about the whole person: “Everything in me longs for You, Lord, heart, mind and soul loves You, Lord.” The next lines come almost word for word from Paul's speech in Athens, “In You I live, in You I breathe, in You I move and have my being.”

The singer then says, “You are my all,” and the chorus lists what that means. God is “my joy, my peace, my refuge from the enemy, my strength when I am weak, victory in defeat.” Each phrase stands for a different need, so the song becomes a roll call of reasons to trust. The ending repeats, “My all, my all, my all, God is my all in all,” and the repetition is where the choir builds the feeling of the piece.
