About Angela Chibalonza
Angela Chibalonza Runiga (1976–2007) was a Congolese gospel singer and songwriter who built her music career in Kenya. Born in Bukavu, Democratic Republic of the Congo, she grew up in a Christian family and became a Christian at age 15. In 1992, she began singing in a church choir, marking the start of her journey in music ministry.
In 1997, Chibalonza moved to Kenya, describing the relocation as a response to a call from God to serve and pursue her music career. She sang in multiple languages, including Swahili, Lingala, and French, and was known for her powerful vocals and live performances in churches and public Christian meetings. Her catalog includes songs such as “Jina La Yesu,” “Nikuabudu,” “Mwisho wa Dunia,” “Ninapotembea,” “Yahwe Uhimidiwe,” “Jubilee,” “Ebenezer,” and “Kaa Nami.”
Chibalonza married Pastor Elisha Muliri in 2003, and they had one daughter, Glory Wonder Chibalonza Muliri. In 2004, she was nominated for the Kora All Africa Music Award for Best Gospel Female Artist. She died in a road accident on September 22, 2007, while returning from a performance.
