About Building 429

Building 429 is an American Christian rock band formed in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in 1999. The group was founded by Jason Roy and Scotty Beshears after they met at a church performance. The band’s name is a reference to Ephesians 4:29, which encourages helpful and constructive speech. Lead vocalist Jason Roy has also served as a worship pastor, an experience that has influenced the band’s lyrical content. The group is known for blending pop-rock music with Christian-themed lyrics. The band has released numerous studio albums and EPs throughout their career. They have toured extensively and performed alongside other prominent Christian artists such as Casting Crowns and tobyMac. Their catalog includes songs such as "Glory Defined," "We Won't Be Shaken," "Listen To The Sound," "Hope Is Here (Do Not Fear)," "Unashamed," "Fear No More," and "Different." Building 429 was named Gospel Music Association (GMA) New Artist of the Year in 2005. The song "Glory Defined" received a BMI Christian Song of the Year award that same year. Their album *We Won't Be Shaken* received a 2013 Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album and reached No. 1 on Billboard's Christian Albums chart. The single "Where I Belong" is an RIAA-certified gold single, reached No. 1 on Christian radio charts, and earned the band a BMI Christian Song of the Year award in 2013.
