Earth Shaker

Building 429's “Earth Shaker” is an upbeat rock song that challenges believers to stop hiding. It begins by seeing doubt trying to silence a dream and fear running wild in the streets, with everyone getting lost in the struggle and no sign of the ones who believe.

The band then asks for someone to grab a match and light the fuse, so the church can be set off until the world sees it explode, a jump start for the lost and weary heart. The chorus states the aim: to be a skyscraper reaching for God, an earth shaker and game changer who is living for him. The second verse says this is the moment, the here and the now, and that people have a choice to step up or step down. It asks what you are going to do when the moment stares back at you, and says it is time to step out and live for God. The bridge adds that your life will be the change and the light, lifting his name above everything. The writing is direct and the energy is high, which suits a youth rally, a school assembly or a workout playlist. The imagery of a skyscraper and an earthquake describes a faith that is visible rather than private.

Being a city on a hill is Matthew 5:14. The disciples turning the world upside down is Acts 17:6, and choosing whom you will serve is Joshua 24:15.
