About Christafari
Christafari is a Christian reggae band founded in 1989 by Mark Mohr, an ordained minister who converted to Christianity at age 17 after formerly being a Rastafarian. The band’s name originated from a play on the term “Christafarian” following Mohr’s early gospel reggae performances. The group identifies as “musicianaries,” or musical missionaries, dedicated to spreading the gospel globally through their music.
The band’s core leadership includes Mark Mohr, his wife Avion Blackman-Mohr, and their daughter Ziza Mohr. Christafari operates its own record label, Lion of Zion Entertainment, and has released over two dozen albums that often blend roots reggae, dancehall, and worship music. Their catalog includes songs such as “10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord),” “Hosanna,” “Way Maker,” and “God’s Original,” as well as albums like *Reggae Worship: A Roots Revival*, *Soulfire*, *Valley of Decision*, and *Hearts of Fire*.
Christafari has achieved notable commercial success, with multiple albums reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart. Their 2012 release, *Reggae Worship: A Roots Revival*, made history as the first Christian reggae album to top that chart. The band has also toured extensively in over 90 nations and performed at events such as the Olympic Games.
