Bongi and Collin Damans, (also popularly just referred to as Bongi & Collin), are artists, authors, song writers, composers and an award winning dynamic music duo. Not only that, but they are also husband and wife with two beautiful kids. Their musical journey began ascending when they earned first and second position in a South African reality show back in 2005, aired on SABC2, one of national TV channels in South Africa. The results were decided following a public voting. At the time they were singing as solo artists but soon after the competition they came together to form a duo. This is where the name Bongi & Collin came into being. They recorded the debut album in 2010. Simply entitled "Makadunyiswe", the album won them a South African Music Award for Best Urban Gospel Album. Their second album, “Live Again”, was released in 2013 and it got five nominations at the Crown Gospel Music Awards where it won an award for Best Gospel RnB Album. The two have performed in all major cities in South Africa and also in other countries like The Caribbean, The US and others. In 2015 they were selected as part of South African artists to perform at Midem conference at Cannes in France. There they didn’t disappoint, presenting a “sterling performance” as Artslink website later described their performance. The two also run a Charity Foundation through which they give back to the community. Their school uniform campaign project has to date impacted thousands of learners in South Africa. In August they were hounoured with an Ingoma Humanitarian award at a Gala evening in Pretoria. This was in recognition of their community work. They have also been nominated for best community project by artist in the 8th SABC Crown Awards. The awards take place in Durban, South Africa on the 15th of November 2015. They are now working on their third album and already have two singles set to be released between December 2015 and March 2016. The album is expected to bring forth another exciting African musical melody from the two. Their music style often reminds one of another golden couple, the legendary South African Caiphus Semenya and Letta Mbulu. With so many music years still ahead of them, they might well be on their way to carving their own legendary status.
