Marvin Winans

Marvin Lawrence Winans Sr., born on March 5, 1958, is an American gospel singer and a founding member of the celebrated gospel group The Winans. As a member of the renowned Winans family, he helped shape the sound of contemporary gospel music. In addition to his music career, Winans is the founder and senior pastor of the Perfecting Church in Detroit, Michigan. He has also served as an actor, appearing in the television show *Tyler Perry's House of Payne*, and founded the Marvin L. Winans Academy of Performing Arts. Winans won a Grammy Award for Best Male Soul Gospel Performance for his song "Bring Back the Days of Yea and Nay" in 1985. His solo catalog includes the album *Alone but Not Alone*, and he also released *Marvin L. Winans Presents: The Praise & Worship Experience*. He collaborated with Donnie McClurkin and CeCe Winans on the song "Stand" and recorded *Foreign Land* with The Three Winans Brothers.
