Petra

Petra is an American Christian rock band formed in 1972 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, by guitarist Bob Hartman. The group’s name is derived from the Greek word for "rock," symbolizing their mission to share the message of Christ through rock music. Over their career, the band released 20 studio albums and experienced numerous lineup changes, becoming widely regarded as a pioneer of the Christian rock and contemporary Christian music genres. The band’s catalog includes well-known songs such as "The Battle Belongs to The Lord," "The Coloring Song," "Beyond Belief," "Who's On The Lord's Side," "Grave Robber," "All Fired Up," and "Road To Zion." Their work earned them significant recognition within the music industry. Petra was nominated for 13 Grammy Awards, winning four, and also won 10 Dove Awards. The group made history as the first rock band inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. In 2025, Petra released a new single, "Deliver Us," from their album *HOPE*. The release marked their first all-new studio project in over 20 years.
