Petra builds this one around a single sustained image rather than shifting metaphors partway through — water in a dry land, refuge from a wilderness, shade and shelter through the night. 'You give me water in a dry and thirsty land' lifts Psalm 63:1's own language almost exactly, where David describes his soul thirsting for God 'in a dry and weary land, where there is no water.'

'I was a wanderer in the wilderness until I stumbled on your oasis' treats the discovery as something closer to an accident than a planned pilgrimage — not effort rewarded, just someone lost who happened to find what they didn't know they were looking for. 'You keep me safe through the night in your oasis' extends the metaphor past a single moment of relief into an ongoing place to stay, and 'I hear the voice of God' is the song's one line that steps outside the desert imagery entirely, naming directly what the water and shade have all been standing in for.
