VaShawn Mitchell

VaShawn Mitchell is a gospel singer, songwriter, and worship leader known for his contributions to gospel music and church ministry. He was born on November 19, 1976, and raised in Harvey, Illinois. Mitchell began his career as an assistant music director at St. Mark Baptist Church in Chicago and later served as the Minister of Music at Sweet Holy Spirit Church in Chicago for nearly a decade. Mitchell’s catalog includes songs such as "Nobody Greater," "Turning Around For Me," "Joy," "See The Goodness," "So Satisfied," "Another Chance," "Believe in Your Dreams," and "Secret Place." His single "Nobody Greater" was the most played gospel song of 2011 and was certified Gold in 2019. He is a multiple-time Stellar Award and GMA Dove Award winner and has received multiple Grammy Award nominations. Mitchell later served as the Minister of Music at Higher Living Christian Church in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2012, he founded the Norman Youth and Arts Foundation to support youth arts camps. He was appointed as the General Overseer of Music & Worship Arts of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2016.
