About Casting Crowns
Casting Crowns formed in 1999 as a student worship group in Daytona Beach, Florida. The band is led by Mark Hall, who serves as the group's lead vocalist and songwriter. Hall has maintained his role as a youth pastor at Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church in Georgia throughout the band's career. The group's name is derived from the imagery in Revelation 4:10-11 regarding the twenty-four elders casting their crowns before God.
The band is known for a contemporary Christian and Christian rock musical style. Their lyrics frequently address themes of faith, discipleship, and reliance on Scripture. Band members have historically balanced their recording and touring careers with active service in their home churches. The group's catalog includes songs such as "Who Am I," "Voice of Truth," "Praise You in this Storm," "Scars in Heaven," "Slow Fade," "If We Are the Body," "East to West," and "Only Jesus."
Casting Crowns has achieved significant commercial success, with career sales exceeding 10 million records. The band has won multiple GMA Dove Awards, including Artist of the Year, and has received three Grammy Awards. The album *Lifesong* won the Grammy Award for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album in 2006. The band was named Billboard magazine's top-selling Christian act for four consecutive years.
