COVENANT

Amanda Cook grounds "Covenant" entirely in one Old Testament promise rather than adding commentary to it — "for the mountains may depart and hills be removed, but My loving kindness will not depart from you, and My covenant of peace will not be removed, says Yahweh who has mercy on you." The song simply lets the words stand as they were spoken.

The comparison itself does the work: mountains and hills are about as permanent as anything in view, and the song names them only to say God's loving kindness outlasts even that. Nothing is added to soften or explain the promise further — it's treated as already complete on its own.
