Stranger

Not fitting in is the theme of "Stranger." The first verse describes a distance, "somewhere between where I started and right now, you caught my eye, now all I can see is the distance that remains between You and I." Anthem Lights add that "in a land of settling, I can't seem to settle in," and the chorus gives the self-description, "I am a stranger in this world, just passing through."

The hook is a wait with a pun, "waiting on the Son to come down," and the promise that follows, "I know that I will be on my way real soon... I won't be home 'til I'm with You." The view of life as a visit matches 1 Peter 2:11 and Hebrews 11:13 about strangers and exiles, and Philippians 3:20 about citizenship in heaven.

The second verse says "I don't belong, I speak the language but still I can't understand what's going on, so I'm running to You just as fast as I can." The bridge looks upward, "gonna keep my eyes looking to the sky for You, the Son is on His way, and I wanna be ready," in line with Acts 1:11 on Christ's return. The ending repeats "I am a stranger."
