Who You Are

Jenn Johnson catalogs God's character across three verses of "Who You Are" rather than settling on one description — "God our Father... God our Healer, God our Strength" moves through the Trinity in turn, giving the Father, the Son, and the Spirit each their own verse instead of blending them into one general statement of praise.

"Jesus, friend above all friends, laid down Your life that I might live" keeps the middle verse specific to Christ's actual sacrifice rather than repeating the general language used for the Father. "Holy Spirit, Comforter, Your eyes are filled with laughter" gives the Spirit an unusually tender, personal image rather than only power or presence.

"And holy, holy Lord of all... You bring life to my every soul" closes the song by returning to the title's own claim — not a list of things God does, but a statement about what God simply is, repeated until the distinction between description and identity collapses entirely.
