David Dunn structures "Six (Waiting For Love)" around three separate scenes, each introduced by a different meaning of the same number — six weeks left to live, six months since an engagement, six years homeless. None of the three people are named, and none of their stories resolve inside the song; each one simply ends with the same admission: "and she cries," "and he cries."
The chorus doesn't offer either of them an easy answer — "hope is all I need, I'm broken and on my knees, so where is God tonight?" is left as a genuine question rather than one the song rushes to close.
