Be Still and Know

Hillsong Worship builds this one entirely around one command repeated and unpacked: "be still and know that the Lord is in control." The phrase lifts Psalm 46:10 directly — "be still, and know that I am God" — a psalm written in the middle of natural disaster and national upheaval, not calm circumstances.

"Surely love and mercy, Your peace and kindness, will follow me" echoes Psalm 23:6's promise that "surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life" — the same movement, pursuit rather than mere presence, mercy actively following rather than sitting still. "Watch as faith and grace align" keeps the song's central command from becoming passive; stillness here isn't inactivity, it's trust specific enough to watch for its own confirmation.
