Lord Of Lords

Hillsong Worship's “Lord Of Lords” opens with a statement of desire: “Beholding Your beauty is all that I long for, to worship You Jesus is my sole desire.” The first verse describes a heart “shaped for Your pleasure” and “purposed to lift Your Name higher.” The second moves from desire to action, entering God's courts “with an offering of praise,” and calls the singer a servant who comes “to bring You glory.”

The first chorus is a doxology to the Lamb, “Now unto the Lamb who sits on the throne, be glory and honour and praise,” and later versions of it change the second half: “All of eternity echoes the song” and “Call all the sinners to join in the song.” The third verse asks for steadiness, with the Spirit “living and dwelling within me” and “keep my eyes fixed ever on Jesus' face.” A short bridge confesses, “Holy Lord, you are holy, Jesus Christ is the Lord.”

The chorus is built on Revelation 5:13, where every creature praises the one on the throne and the Lamb. The title is from Revelation 19:16, and eyes fixed on Jesus and running the race are Hebrews 12:1-2.
