Humble Me

Hulvey's "Humble Me" opens with a repeated plea that doubles as a confession: the singer admits he is tired of seeing himself, asking God to shrink his ego until only dependence remains. The second verse walks the narrow road and hears the gravel underfoot, a small, concrete detail that keeps the song grounded even as it reaches for grace. He describes a heart of stone being replaced, and then a series of images borrowed from Scripture — a vessel, a man on a stretcher, an untouchable leper crying out like a beggar. The turning point is the voice that answers: "I love you son," repeated until the singer accepts it.
