Hulvey turns a string of rapid-fire affirmations into a conversation with God, and the hook keeps circling back to a question that sounds almost too good to accept: "Can it be true? You love me how you do?" The verses tally what that love has settled, with a checklist refrain of "You on it, check / You worth it, check / You're perfect, check" that treats God's character as something already proven rather than hoped for.

Between those checks sits plain confession. He admits to carrying a lot on his chest, to handing his burdens over, and to a pride that rises "too high" before God calls it out and still sees him "the same." Another verse looks outward at people the world tries to crush and at the choice to turn the other cheek, with the foundation named as solid. The closing image, "It's cold in this city / So I'll be your light," shifts from receiving love to carrying it into hard places.

The wonder of being loved without having to fake or front echoes Romans 8:38-39 and the line in 1 John 4:19 that we love because He first loved us. The song leaves the question open on purpose, and lets repetition do the persuading.
