Come Away

Jesus Culture wrote "Come Away" as a direct address from God rather than a prayer aimed upward — the verses open with a warning against hurry ("don't you be in such a hurry, cause it only leads to worry") before the chorus answers in first person: "come and spend some time with Me." That structure puts the listener on the receiving end of an invitation instead of the one doing the asking.

The second verse names specific pressures — sinking in sorrow, worry about tomorrow — and answers them with an old promise reworded simply: cast your cares on Him and receive "a perfect peace within." There's no attempt to explain why the pressures exist, only an offer to set them down.

What keeps the song from being generic comfort music is the image of the "empty cup" needing to be filled rather than topped off — it assumes real depletion, not a minor inconvenience. The last line promises freedom as the result of the time spent, not a separate reward for it.
