God Of Love

One couplet carries the weight here: "Love is who you are, love is what you give." It frames God's character and his action together, and "God of love" and "full of love" return as a chant-like title phrase that the backing voices echo in parentheses at the close.

The middle sections turn that claim into a petition and a short history. The petition is "Fill my heart with all of you, make each moment of my days tell of who you are, that the world may know." The history is brief: "You came down to the earth for the sake of love, to redeem the lost." Love is presented as an event as well as a quality, tied to the incarnation and rescue.

Worship ends in posture. "I will bow before your throne," with "holy hands" lifted, then "casting all my crowns" before the one called God of love. 1 John 4:8 states that God is love, John 3:16 shows that love given, and Revelation 4:10 supplies the picture of crowns cast down before the throne.
