Be Still, for the Presence of the Lord

A hushed call to stillness runs through every line of this hymn, each verse naming a different attribute of God arriving in the room. The first stanza bows low before the Holy One, insisting there is no sin in Him and that the ground itself has become holy. The second lifts the eyes to glory shining all around, picturing a King crowned in splendor and burning with holy fire, so bright the singer can only call the sight awesome. The third turns outward toward action: power is moving in this place, and it comes to cleanse and heal, to minister grace, with nothing too hard for Him to accomplish.
