[Verse 1]
The nations rage
The headlines roar
And fear comes knocking at the door
But heaven's throne has never moved
And every word of God stands proved
[Chorus]
Kings may rise and kingdoms fall
Still His hand is over all
Though troubled times may now appear
The Lord is reigning, do not fear
[Verse 2]
Be not troubled, lift your head
Stand upon the words He said
Look to Jesus, do not fear
Your redemption draweth near
Though the darkness fills the night
We are children of the light
The world may shake, but this remains
The Lord our God forever reigns
[Chorus]
The Lord our God forever reigns
The Lord our God forever reigns
[Verse 3]
Our hope is not in earthly kings
Or all the strength their power brings
No government can save the soul
In Christ alone we're fully whole
The word of God will never fade
Its firm foundation has been laid
So stand upon the truth you know
He'll keep His word through every woe
[Chorus]
Be not troubled, lift your head
Stand upon the words He said
Look to Jesus, do not fear
Your redemption draweth near
Though the darkness fills the night
We are children of the light
The world may shake, but this remains
The Lord our God forever reigns
[Chorus]
The Lord our God forever reigns
The Lord our God forever reigns
[Bridge]
Our Savior will return one day
And take His waiting church away
What He has promised will come true
He will return for me and you
No earthly power can stop the Lord
Or overthrow His faithful word
So let our song of triumph ring:
Forever Christ will reign as King!
[Chorus]
Be not troubled, lift your head
Stand upon the words He said
Look to Jesus, do not fear
Your redemption draweth near
Till our blessed hope appears
We will serve and silence fear
The world may shake, but this remains
The Lord our God forever reigns
[Outro]
The Lord our God forever reigns
Be Not Troubled
Song Meaning
Headlines roar and nations rage at the start of "Be Not Troubled," but RUWA Music immediately sets a counterweight beside the noise: "heaven's throne has never moved." The chorus carries the comfort in a short list, with kings rising and kingdoms falling while "His hand is over all," and the instruction not to fear because the Lord is reigning.
The refrain-like second verse is the heart of the piece. It tells the listener to lift their head, stand on what Jesus said, and look to Him, since "your redemption draweth near." The third verse is blunt about politics, saying hope is not in earthly kings and "no government can save the soul," and it rests instead on a word that "will never fade."
The bridge looks ahead to the return of Christ, when He will take His waiting church away, and ends in a triumphant line about Him reigning forever as King. Several phrases come straight from Scripture. Luke 21:28 supplies the lifted head and the nearness of redemption, John 14:1 the call not to let hearts be troubled, and Isaiah 40:8 the word of God that stands when everything else withers.
