Behold Him

Shane & Shane's "Behold Him" moves through the life of Christ almost like a résumé read in reverse chronological weight — not birth to death in order, but each line adding another layer to the same command: "behold Him." "He who was before there was light walked across the pages of time" opens with pre-existence before the song ever gets to Bethlehem.

"He who heard humanity's cry left His throne to wake as a child" and "he who chose a criminal's end, paid with blood to settle our debt, buried death as He rose to life" compress incarnation and crucifixion and resurrection into a handful of lines, each one ending on the same refrain rather than building toward a single climax — every part of the story gets equal weight.

"Jesus, Alpha and Omega, our God, the risen Savior" borrows John's own title for Christ from Revelation — the beginning and the end, nothing before Him and nothing after Him either. The repeated "holy, holy, holy is the Lord, God Almighty" pulls straight from the same book's throne-room vision, the song's closing command simply to "be still and behold Him" rather than add anything further.
