The Lord Almighty Reigns

Shane & Shane and Keith & Kristyn Getty build this hymn almost entirely out of Revelation's throne-room imagery, and it doesn't soften the scale of what it's describing — 'an endless song... with the voice of every tribe, the sound of every tongue' echoes Revelation 7:9's 'great multitude, which no man could number, out of every nation and of all tribes, peoples, and languages,' refusing to shrink the vision down to something more singable in a small room.

'Like the roar of mighty seas and rolls of thunder, hear His people sing' pulls directly from Revelation 19:6's description of 'the voice of a great multitude... like the voice of many waters... saying, Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns' — the hymn's title is a near-exact quote of that verse. 'We will join the feast, rest from battles won' looks forward rather than only celebrating a present moment, and the closing plea — 'oh, that more would share the prize, salvation in His name' — keeps the massive, cosmic scene from becoming purely abstract; it ends on an invitation for the song to keep growing, not just a description of how large it already is.
