Waiting Room

Shane & Shane's “Waiting Room” is a quiet song about faith during a silent season. It opens with a list of promises written as a creed for hard times. I will run when I cannot walk, sing when there is no song, pray when there is no prayer and listen when I cannot hear.

The verse describes sitting in the waiting room of silence, waiting for the still soft voice the singer knows. He offers his words up to the rooftop and to God's heart, trusting that the closet is where God is. He then admits that if he changes his mind, God will change his heart in time, and he says that the sovereign Lord's timing is from him. The chorus returns to the waiting room, because it is all about God. The closing verse repeats the creed with new lines: I will fight when I cannot feel, trust when you do not seem real, tell when I cannot speak and step when I cannot see. These lines are honest about doubt without giving up on obedience, and that is the song's strength.
