It Won't Work Flow

Todd Dulaney builds almost the entire track around one repeated declaration — "it won't work" — hammered over and over against an unnamed attack: sickness and disease, an assault on the mind, a threat against family. The repetition isn't filler; it's the song acting out the stubbornness it's describing, refusing to let the threat land.

The turn comes when the chant gets its scripture: "no weapon formed against me shall prosper," lifted almost word for word from Isaiah 54:17's promise to God's people under siege. Dulaney doesn't explain the verse so much as repeat it until it becomes the song's own chorus, the same move preachers use when a single line of scripture needs to outlast a crisis rather than just describe one.

By the bridge, "there's a shifting in this house on this evening" turns the fight personal and domestic — not a battlefield somewhere else, but Dulaney's own household — before the song closes back on "I feel good," trading anxious repetition for settled confidence that the weapon, whatever it is, has already lost.
