Opening Flow
Song Meaning
Todd Dulaney's “Opening Flow” is a short, live-recorded call to worship. The first command is plain, “Clap your hands,” and the first petition is bigger: “Lion of the tribe of Judah rise up in the room.” What comes next is a long, repeated line, “And the King of Glory shall come in,” which is sung several times in a row with the leader noting the parts, so the congregation can build it up.
Midway the song gives instructions for the people: “Lift up your hands, open your mouth tonight.” It then supplies the reason in a single sentence, “Because the word says, where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” That line is the main refrain of the song, sung again and again with cries of “Oh Lord” between the repetitions. The close is a call for a shout, “One good time, let out a shout in the room.”
The King of Glory lines come from Psalm 24:7-8, where the gates are told to lift up their heads. The liberty line is 2 Corinthians 3:17, and the Lion of the tribe of Judah is a title for Christ in Revelation 5:5.
Clap your hands
Lion of the tribe of Judah rise up in the room
And the king of Glory shall come in
And the king of glory shall come in
And the king of glory shall come in
And the king of Glory shall come in
And the king of Glory shall come in
Three parts
And the king of Glory shall come in
And the king of glory shall come in
And the king of glory shall come in
And the king of Glory shall come in
Lift up your hands
Open your mouth
Open your mouth tonight
Because the word says
Where the spirit of the Lord of is
There is liberty
Oh lord oh lord oh lord
Where the spirit of the Lord of is
Oh Lord Oh Lord
Where the spirit of the Lord of is
There is liberty
Where the spirit of the Lord of is
There is liberty
Where the spirit of the Lord of is
There is liberty
One good time
Let out a shout in the room
Yes oh God
