Koryn Hawthorne

Koryn Hawthorne is an American contemporary Christian and gospel singer who rose to prominence as a finalist on NBC's *The Voice*. Born Koryn Mattanah Hawthorne on December 26, 1997, in Abbeville, Louisiana, she grew up singing in her family's church, Lighthouse for Jesus. She gained national attention in 2015 as a finalist on season eight of *The Voice*, where she competed on Pharrell Williams's team and placed fourth. Following her time on the show, Hawthorne signed with RCA Inspiration, a division of Sony Music focused on gospel recordings. Her debut studio album, *Unstoppable*, was released in 2018 and reached number one on the *Billboard* Top Gospel Albums chart. The album's lead single, "Won't He Do It," became a major success. She has also released the albums *I AM* and *On God*, along with singles including "Speak The Name," "Look At God," "Pray," and "We All Need Jesus." Hawthorne's work has earned her significant recognition within the gospel music industry. She won a Billboard Music Award for Top Gospel Song for "Won't He Do It" in 2019. That same year, she received a GMA Dove Award for Contemporary Gospel/Urban Recorded Song of the Year for the same track. Her album *Unstoppable* also earned her a GMA Dove Award for Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year and an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Gospel Album, both in 2019. Additionally, she won a Stellar Gospel Music Award for Music Video of the Year for "Won't He Do It." Hawthorne has also received multiple Grammy Award nominations for Best Gospel Performance/Song. In 2023, she appeared in the film *Praise This*.
