Like You

Aaron Cole, Tauren Wells, and TobyMac start from an observation about human nature rather than a complaint: "everybody is becoming something, we're all becoming what we behold." Before naming what they want to become, the song names the mechanism — attention shapes identity, whether anyone intends it to or not.

Once that's established, the hook narrows the target: "if I'm gonna be more of anything, I just wanna be more like You." It's a near match for 2 Corinthians 3:18's claim that believers are "being transformed into the same image" as what they behold — the song just puts that transformation in first-person, present-tense terms instead of theological ones.

The second verse turns the general observation into a specific offer: "everybody's gonna worship something, but there's only one name I choose... here I am, Lord, I'm making room." That line borrows the posture of Romans 12:1's "living sacrifice" — presenting oneself rather than just admiring from a distance. The closing repetition, "peace, joy, love that You're givin', I am changed by Your Spirit," locates the actual mechanism of that change outside the singer, not as self-improvement but as something done to them.
