O Come All Ye Faithful

Big Daddy Weave's "O Come All Ye Faithful" keeps John Francis Wade's eighteenth-century hymn text close to its original shape, adding one direct line of address not in the traditional version: "every nation will bow down before You, every tongue will confess You are God." It's a small addition that pulls a New Testament promise straight into a Christmas carol.

The hymn's own logic hasn't changed in nearly three hundred years: "come and behold Him, born the King of angels" isn't an invitation to admire from a distance but to actually go look, the way the shepherds did once the angels spoke. "Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation... glory to God, all glory in the highest" echoes Luke's account of the sky itself erupting in praise the night Christ was born.

"Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing" is the hymn's quiet theological center — not just a baby being born, but God's own eternal Word taking on a body. Big Daddy Weave's arrangement doesn't need new language to make that land; the repeated "O come, let us adore Him" already does the work of turning a Christmas memory into an active response.
