Recover

Caitie Hurst spends the first verse stuck replaying regret — "rewind moments that I can't change," "caught up in cycles that I can't break," "working so hard to get ahead" without ever closing the gap. It's a specific kind of exhaustion: not failure itself, but the endless attempt to undo it.

The chorus interrupts that loop with a claim about God rather than a strategy for self-improvement: "you give it all back, over and over, there's nothing You can't recover." Hurst isn't promising she'll stop making mistakes — she's naming something true about God's capacity regardless of hers: "not once was I overlooked."

That's close to Paul's confidence in Romans 8:28, that God works all things together for good, and Joel's promise in Joel 2:25 to restore "the years that the locust hath eaten." Hurst's closing lines — "all the detours I should have avoided... You work it all for my good" — read like Joel's promise translated into the language of ordinary regret rather than agricultural disaster.
