Lover - You're My Lover That I found

Love arrives here as something almost reckless. The first line asks "How furious Your love oh God," and the picture that follows is of a love "blazing like the morning sun" in an endless sky. Alongside that force sits a gentler image: a God who sings, "the sweet and gentle melody" that frees the singer "to freely be." Strength and tenderness are held together rather than traded off.

The refrain makes the relationship personal. "You are my lover that I found" and "there's none like You" in all the earth are sung twice, and the intimacy is the point. The second verse builds on it with a heart that "burns for me," authority given, fears retreating, and then a call to go "out to sea, to walk upon the face of the deep."

That last picture recalls Peter stepping out of the boat in Matthew 14:29, and the singing God recalls Zephaniah 3:17, where he rejoices over his people with singing. Song of Solomon 8:6, with its love as strong as death and a flame of the Lord, fits the language of fury and fire.
