There Is No Higher Name / Holy Holy Holy

Corey Voss, Sarah Kroger and Revere combine two songs in “There Is No Higher Name / Holy Holy Holy.” The opening verse describes creation giving way before God: “The ancient mountains crumble, the age-old hills collapse, Your presence fills the temple with Your glory.” The response is the heavenly cry, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty, the earth is filled with glory.”

The next verse moves from the scene to the singer. “Standing here before You, my feet on holy ground, my eyes have seen Your beauty and Your glory.” The line “I'm in awe of Your glory” is repeated, and then the song widens to include everyone: “Every nation bows down, joining with heaven's sound, singing Hallelujah.” The second half is the other song, with the claim that God is the same from “age to age” and the plea, “Be enthroned on our praise.” The tag, “There is no higher name,” sets the whole piece in a place of worship rather than spectacle.

The seraphs' cry is Isaiah 6:3. The mountains and hills giving way are in Habakkuk 3:6, and every knee bowing to the name above all names is Philippians 2:9-10.
