My Faith Has Found A Resting Place - I need No Other Argument

Dan Jenkins sings “My Faith Has Found A Resting Place,” a hymn also known by its refrain, “I need no other argument.” The first stanza says where faith rests and where it doesn't: “Not in device nor creed; I trust the Ever-living One, His wounds for me shall plead.” The sentence moves trust away from systems and arguments and toward a person whose wounds speak on the believer's behalf.

The chorus is the center: “I need no other argument, I need no other plea, it is enough that Jesus died, and that He died for me.” The following stanzas build on it. “Enough for me that Jesus saves, this ends my fear and doubt,” and the sinner who comes to him is promised, “He'll never cast me out.” The hymn names the Bible as its support, “my heart is leaning on the Word, the written Word of God,” and ends by calling Jesus the “great Physician” who heals the sick and gave his life for the lost.

Never being cast out is John 6:37. His dying for the singer matches Romans 5:8, and leaning on the written Word reflects 2 Timothy 3:16. The Physician image comes from Luke 5:31.
