Song Meaning
Deitrick Haddon's “I Feel Like” is built to be sung with a crowd. The call opens with shouts of “Let's go,” then the verse quotes scripture straight into the room: “This is the day the Lord has made / I will rejoice and be glad in it.” The invitation that follows is physical, “If you feel like I do, wave like this,” and later “lift your hands, and pray like this.”
The hook works on a template: “I feel like praisin' Him / I feel like liftin' Him up / I feel like givin' Him all of the glory.” The repetition is the format, since the leader keeps asking “Everybody say” and the audience fills in. Near the end the lines open into wordless “Oh” sections and requests such as “Lord save us all / Lord everyone,” before closing on a short run: “Give God the glory / Give God the prayer.”
The opening verse is Psalm 118:24, and the praise-first posture matches Psalm 150:2, which calls people to praise him for his mighty acts. The song gives no story or argument, only a repeated reason to join in.
