Worship Medley (Joy Of The Lord, Oh The Glory)
Song Meaning
Deitrick Haddon pairs two short choruses here, and their placement side by side does real work — the first names an inward resource, 'the joy of the Lord is your strength,' quoting Nehemiah 8:10's instruction to a grieving crowd not to be sorrowful because that joy was available to them regardless of circumstance. The second turns outward, toward something not yet visible: 'the glory of the Lord shall be revealed.'
That pairing — inward strength now, outward glory still coming — echoes Habakkuk 2:14's promise that 'the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh, as the waters cover the sea,' a vision of something total but not yet arrived. The medley's brevity is part of its logic: neither chorus tries to argue its point at length, both simply repeat the same short claim until it settles, treating repetition itself as the appropriate response to truths this large rather than something requiring further explanation.
[Verse 1]
The joy of the Lord is your strength.
The joy of the Lord is your strength.
The joy of the Lord, the joy of the Lord,
the joy of the Lord is your strength.
[Vamp]
The joy of the Lord, the joy of the Lord,
the joy of the Lord is your strength.
Oh The Glory
[Verse 2]
Oh the glory,
the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
oh, oh, oh, yeah.
Oh the glory,
the glory of the Lord shall be revealed,
oh, oh, oh, yeah.
[Vamp]
Be revealed, be revealed,
I know it's gonna be revealed.
