Second Wind

Honesty about waiting begins the verse in "Second Wind": "we are people of faith, we know God will do just what He says, but being honest with ourselves, sometimes we struggle with ourselves. Delay has caused us to question our faith." Donald Lawrence adds the question people ask, "where did the time go, is it slipping away?"

God answers in the first person in the chorus. "You will be as strong now as you were then. Your gift will be as relevant now as it was then, when I anointed you. I blew breath in you before and I can do it again. I am God and I give second wind." The breath comes from Genesis 2:7, and the promise of renewal recalls the breath given to dry bones in Ezekiel 37:5.

The bridge goes on: "your life is not over, you're just beginning to live, your latter will be greater than your past," in the spirit of Haggai 2:9. Then God says, "everything that I promised you I am going to do, I am active, watching over my word," from Jeremiah 1:12. The vamp is a string of commands, "breathe again, sing again, smile again, live again," before the outro repeats the chorus.
