God Of All Nations
Song Meaning
Ellie Holcomb opens with origin rather than diversity as the starting point — "from the dust we were created, alike, but not the same, in the image of the living God" — grounding the song's later claims about unity in Genesis 1:27's account of humanity made "in God's image," difference and shared origin held together rather than in tension.
"Every language, every color... we're all children of the Father" anticipates Revelation 7:9's vision of "a great multitude, which no man could number, out of every nation and of all tribes, peoples, and languages" gathered before God's throne. "From the ends of the earth to the heavens" keeps the song's scope literally global rather than aspirational — not a wish for unity someday, but a description of who's actually included in the invitation now.
From the dust we were created
Alike, but not the same
In the image of the living God
Who has called us all by name
Every language, every color
You and I are sisters and brothers
We're all children of the Father
Praise to the One who created us all!
Oh, God of all nations, we sing out to You
From the ends of the earth to the heavens, we do
With the words our mouth we proclaim what is true
Oh, God of all nations, we sing out to You
Oh, God of all nations, we sing out to You
From the rising in the eastern sky
To the setting in the west
Your peace as constant as the sun on high
And in You we find our rest
Every language, every color
You and I are sisters and brothers
We're all children of the Father
Praise to the one who created us all!
Oh, God of all nations, we sing out to You
From the ends of the earth to the heavens, we do
With the words of our mouth we proclaim what is true
Oh, God of all nations, we sing out to You
Oh, God of all nations, we sing out to You
Every language, every color
You and I are sons and daughters
We're all children of the Father
Praise to the One, the creator of all!
Oh, God of all nations, we sing out to You
From the ends of the earth to the heavens, we do
With the words our mouth we proclaim what is true
Oh, God of all nations, we sing out to You
Oh, God of all nations, we sing out to You
